NEW YEAR 2020
January 3 2020
Happy new year crystal lovers!
Hope you all had a great transit into 2020 - this is going to be such an exciting year!
I have so many fantastic new crystals to share with you, so stay tuned for more.
As you probably have already noticed I have changed the name of the web shop to www.aviuvi.com and Instagram to @aviuvicrystals.
Some of you guys were nice to let me know that you had difficulties finding the shop online, so hopefully the new name will make it easier.
Originally I chose the name AU for philosophical reasons. AU is short for ‘astronomical unit’ - the distance from Earth to the Sun, the space between our two life-giving forces. On a more philosophical note it is a metaphor for us human beings as the consciousness that unites the physical and spiritual world.
The new name AVIUVI also represents this philosophy, Avi meaning Sun and Uvi meaning Earth.
I love astronomy and astrology! It has always made a lot of sense to me, so I want to incorporate it a little bit more this year.
In my view astronomy is like a big clock, deeply connected to nature and our earthly experience. I view astrology as the spiritual interpretation of this clockwork.
For 2020 I’m giving you a quick overview of the highlights that I find relevant and helpful and how you can easily apply them to your everyday life. Astrologically 2020 is going to be a really busy year for everyone, so I’m also going to remind you of the dates and events on Instagram at @aviuvicrystals.
NEW MOONS
If you (like me) are the type of person who loves a fresh start, you will love the concept of new moons. It is your monthly new beginning!
New moons are great for setting intentions and starting something new - a new habit, a launch, a new project. I find it very helpful to align my intentions with the season / sign of the new moon. If you are advanced in astrology you might even look into where the sign is placed in your natal chart, what house it is in and where the ruling planet or planets are placed. However it doesn’t have to be complicated at all. The season usually has the characteristics of the sign that the new moon is in. So for example we have a new moon in Aquarius January 24 that to me that signifies a time of intuition, enlightenment, intellectual ingenuity, art and contributing to society. In my experience these have been the headlines for January and February throughout the years, so I want to align myself with those themes so that I work with them (and not against them).
This is a season where I usually enjoy studying, being creative and doing social work, so I set intentions and make plans in those areas of my life.
I also know that I get easily distracted and impatient so this is where I really enjoy working with crystals.
I work with the crystals that to me signifies the intentions for this season as a reminder. I wear them, hold them and put them on display in my home. This method can be a way to make sure that you don’t slip into the unconscious mindset of the daily grind, and keep your focus on what you really want. Most importantly, it is such a practical, easy and effortless way of working with crystals in your everyday life, and I highly recommend you trying it our for yourself. For this upcoming new moon I will be working with Scolecite! I have some incredibly beautiful new Scolecites from India that will be at the AVIUVI web shop next week.
FULL MOONS
For many the full moon makes a great night for ‘cleansing crystals’ and I do that too from time to time. But generally I find full moons to be a time for cleansing anything really - your mind, body and personal space.
Full moons for me are also about completions and releasing excess mental baggage. I find Selenite to be perfect for this! Raw selenite has that kind of moonlike cool glow, and somehow it just makes you feel so fresh and clean.
What I do is using it to cleanse my aura and imagine that I’m brushing away anything that I want to let go of. Further more I like holding it up to my third eye letting it dissolve any worries, confusion, or anxiety that I may have.
At the AVIUVI web shop I have some really really bright, big raw pieces from Morocco that I personally picked out. They are truly the most beautiful ones that I have ever come across.
In 2020 we will have three super moons where the full moon will appear bigger than usual. The dates are March 9 (Virgo), April 8 (Libra), and May 7 (Scorpio). Like at the new moon I find it helpful to connect with the characteristics of specific sign of the full moon to perhaps let go of some of the emotions, thoughts and behaviors of that sign.
ECLIPSES
This year we have six eclipses: June 21 is the solar eclipse that has been called ‘The Solstice Ring of Fire Eclipse’ and December 14 is the ‘Christmas solar eclipse’. January 10 (Cancer), June 5 (Sagittarius), July 5 (Capricorn), and November 29/30 (Gemini) we have lunar eclipses. The Sun, Earth and moon will be almost perfectly aligned and a shadow will appear on the face of the Moon.
Generally eclipses are viewed by astrologers as significant and powerful, so it might be interesting to look at where the eclipses fall in your personal chart and choose the crystals to work with that to you represents those themes: health, finances, travel, home, relationships and so on.
Whether or not you will be able to see the eclipses depends on where you are on Earth, however I find eclipses to be a nice time to take a pause and remember the beautiful astronomical clockwork of this life experience, regardless of wether I see them or not.
To me eclipses calls for any type of amplifying crystal that connect with the collective conscious such as Himalaya Quartz. The Himalaya Quartz on the AVIUVI web shop is of the highest quality - beautiful thin points, perfect condition and bright white. They are absolutely wonderful for meditation too.
I also have two unbelievable Milky Spirit Quartz from USA that I can’t wait to show you!
SOLSTICES
Solstices are when the Sun is at its highest and lowest above the horizon - in other words it is the brightest and darkest days of the year. The In 2020 these seasonal extremes falls on June 20 and December 21.
The solstices represents the natural contraction and expansion of life on Earth, so it is the perfect time to connect with nature and your highest self. You can use a number of crystals for this, so I really recommend that you trust your instincts and choose whatever you feel called towards. I personally like to use local crystals these days.
EQUINOXES
The equinoxes are the two days a year that marks when the center of the Sun is directly above Earth’s equator. In 2020 they fall on March 20 and September 22. On the days of the equinoxes daytime and nighttime are of approximately equal duration, so in Denmark we call it ‘forårsjævndøgn’ and ‘efterårsjævndøgn’ roughly translated to ’spring even day’ and ‘autumn even day’. Like the solstices the equinoxes were significant celebratory days for the vikings, but where solstices represent the extremes, the equinoxes represents equilibrium.
These are days of balance and deeply connected to life on earth. A fantastic crystal for the spring equinox is Quartz Geodes because they all about wholeness and harmony.
THE GREAT CONJUNCTION
On winter solstice December 21 an interesting astronomical phenomenon occurs called ‘The Great Conjunction’. The two giants Saturn and Jupiter will appear from Earth to be very close - or more like on top of each other.
The Great Conjunction is actually what inspired me to share my thoughts on astronomy and astrology. As I mentioned in the New Moon section, I really love new beginnings, and many astrologers believe that the conjunction between Saturn and Jupiter marks a new 200 year cycle that by some is referred to as The Aquarian Age - or at least one of the key points into it.
Time is shifting from the earth element representing materialism and capitalism as being the main collective driving forces into the air element focusing on the development human consciousness with knowledge, technology and art being in focus.
This is a time for celebrating everyone’s uniqueness and working together in communities instead of competing. We break away from the mainstream notion of conforming to (and being victims of) the dominating powers of a few individuals. Breaking free from mental conditioning, expanding your consciousness and uniting your physical and spiritual self.
You probably already see it happening, and ‘The Great Conjunction’ and ‘Aquarian Age’ is just the astrological interpretation (and validation) of this shift.
All kinds of clear Quartz will be great for this event, but personally I’m going for my favorite, Herkimer Diamonds!
So there you have it, 2020! I’ll give you astrological reminders and keep you posted on our new fantastic AVIUVI crystals right here and on Instagram @aviuvicrystals.
Hope you enjoyed this, and let me know if you have any questions.
Lots of love!
