SELENITE

Dear Crystal Lovers,

Todays quick crystal info is about crystal that I work with every single day, and that is Selenite.

Selenite is a hydrous calcium sulfate mineral, also called ‘satin spar gypsum crystal’, ‘liquid light’ and ’stone of the moon’ from the original greek name (selēnitēs). It is formed in evaporated seas, hot springs and clay beds. As it is a form of gypsum, it is very delicate and dissolves in water.

It has a very unique look to it, reflecting and defusing light in the most incredible way. 

Selenite is all about purification and it is very easy to integrate it into your everyday life. Three simple ways of working with selenite is: 

1. Having it in the bedroom. Selenite is soothing and calming which makes it perfect for any space where you want to relax. It is also a great crystal for meditation, or to inspire mindfulness and mental clarity in specific situations.

2. To have is as a display for your other crystals. If you are lucky enough to find a big piece of pure white Selenite, these makes the most wonderful ‘cleansing stations’ for your pocket crystals and the smaller crystals that you work with regularly. Some find Selenite to be a charging crystal, however my experience is that what it really does is that it cleanses out any excess energy from other crystals. It might seem as though your quartz or hematite or pyrite gets amplified, but really the energy is just more pure. 

3. To contain your jewelry. Many of us wear jewelry every day, and in the evening it is nice to put them down in a place where all the energy of the day gets cleared out. Selenite bowls are ideal for that, providing you with energetically fresh and clear jewelry in the morning. 

As always I highly encourage you to feel it out for yourself, and explore whatever resonates with you. 

I believe that crystals can provide a way for the individual to create a spiritual practice and build a bridge between your physical and spiritual world. In your everyday life they can be beautiful physical reminders that visually represent your intentions, values and goals.
